Right now I am currently reading Bone Vol. 2 The Great Cow Race. This book is great and I can really relate to it. It is early in the series so the story is a bit more grounded. Phoney Bone is every humans greed cranked up to 11 and I'm glad I'm not like him. Grandma Ben's plot is interesting since she has to deal with people thinking that she's too old for the race. The continuing romance between Thorn and Fone is bitter sweet since he really wants to be with her but we as the reader know that they will most likely never get together. These interesting character arcs are why I'm so invested in this series.

Magnus Chase
Adventurous- The whole story is Magnus going on a adventure even though he doesn't have too. He even goes on side adventures to help his friends with personal problems. Witty- Magnus has lived a rough life but he still cracks quite a few jokes. When monsters attack he chooses mockery as one of his go to weapons. Brave- Magnus is brave to no end. In the books first few chapters he tries to help his people on a bridge from a monsters which leads to his unexpected death. Heroism
Heroism is spread throughout the Hobbit. Bilbo over the course of the book goes from a mild-manner hobbit to a adventurer. Bilbo isn't a warrior as violence repels him “Bilbo’s heart fell, both at the song and the talk they sounded much too warlike”. Despite his small stature Bilbo cares about Thorin and the other dwarfs and he proves this by saving the company from many different situations. One example of this was when Bilbo The dwarfs especially Kili and Fili heroically want to help their prince reclaim their kingdom. This shows they have bravery since most of the dwarfs aren't warriors. While some could contribute Kili and Fili's to their over eagerness they defend Thorin till they are killed by goblins. While most of the dwarfs are really only given basic characterization these two are given the trait of young and heroic. Another moment of character development leads to heroism on Bilbo's part is the riddle game. Bilbo wins by cheating and stealing but it's a great example of Bilbo's heroism. Bilbo had the ability to be adventurous and heroic as a child but he let it slip away. The cave scene features Bilbo using his adult skills with his child like creativity. It's after this scene where Bilbo begins to become more heroic. Arthur's house was being torn down today His friend Ford shows up and saves his friends life Ford wants to leave but Arthur wants to stay Ford is his only friend Arthur has no wife The two go to a bar and get drinks Ford tells Arthur about the end of the world Ford is a alien and the world ending stinks The vogons are coming which makes Arthur hurl The dolphins leave and thanks us for the fish The vogons show up and capture our heroes The earth is destroyed despite Arthur's wish Arthur gets a book; The Hitchhikers Guide The vogons torture them with poetry Eventually they escape the torture Over the past few years Orson Scott Card has become one of my favorite authors. His series The Ender Quartet as it'called are some of the most amazing and thought provoking books I've ever read. I wanted to learn more about the man who is responsible for these great books so I started researching him. He has had an interesting life and even after this assignment I would like to know more about this interesting man.

Does the plot of Moby Dick further connect to the plot? Is Thorn right in leading Fone Bone on? Is the barter system better than capitalism like Lucius says? Why do Smiley and Fone stick with Phoney? Why won't Grandma Ben tell Thorn the truth? Discussion Questions I think the Bone cousins stick together because they're family. But even if they weren't cousins Smiley and Fone are just good people who will help those in need, even if it's in need from greed and their own money making schemes. The Bone's are the ones who aren't some legendary heroes but just good friends who are willing to help their friends. I think Grandma Ben thinks that she is protecting Thorn by not telling the truth. As the series continues you see the tough life that Grandma Ben has had and between that and the Rat Creature army many people are threatening Thorn. But as in many stories you can that all Thorn wants is to know everything which leads to a bit of a rift between the two. You can only hope the rift is fixed. Open ended questions
1. How does Bilbo change throughout the book? 2. How does having sudden power change Thorin? 3. Why does Smaug love gold so much? 4. Was Bilbo right for taking the one ring? 5. Why are the hobbits so scared of traveling. I don't necessarily think that hobbits are scared of traveling as much as they just don't see the point. They are described as a child like people who think they know everything. They don't want that superiority to be taken away which is what happens to Bilbo in this book. Bilbo goes from mild manner shut in which is how most hobbits are to an adventure and burglar. He changes in a good way with only the loss of popularity among snooty hobbits. You can see where Frodo from The Lord Of The Rings gets his great courage from and how this adventure made Bilbo a much better person. Was Peter responsible for his uncles death?
Does great power equal great responsibility? Why was Norman such a bad father? Why did Peter let popularity go to his head? Why was Norman so obsessive? Does great power equal great responsibility?- I think that Uncle Ben's saying is true and that if you have an amazing gift you have to use it for the common good. If Peter had stopped the robber he could have saved his uncle and lived on with his life but he was selfish and didn't use his gift wisely and as A result somebody he loved was killed. Why did Peter let popularity go to his head?- I believe that peter let the popularity go to his head because he had never lived as a young outgoing person. He was interested in science and the few friends he had. The popular kids had never been nice to him so why should he care. But once they started hanging out with him he got swooped up into their responsible free world and threw what mattered to the curb. Questions: #1. Do are main characters parents deserve redemption? Throughout the book we see are main characters parents do some terrible things including murder and other heinous crimes. They save their kids in the end but had they lived they would have been imprisoned. I think they did redeem themselves in the end but only out of love for their children.
Question #2: What mad Alex turn evil? I think Alex turned evil because he was an organised person. He was the smart one of the team but the one thing he could never have was a good relationship with his father. He did care about his teammates just not as much as he wanted his parents love. Ironically it was his death that lead to the pride redeeming themselves. The ending of my book features the books villain Bonvillian attempting to assassinate the main character, Conors girlfriend and queen Isabella. Conor with the help of his friend Linus Winter and some other workers help Conor launch his glider at the castle. Bonvillan's treachery is revealed at dinner but Isabella and Conors parents who are also there nearly drink the poison. Conor stops the plot and reveals himself alive after many years to his family. He and the guards defeat Bonvillians men and Bonvillian is killed. Conor and Linus are going to tour America but he promises to return. I really liked the ending to my book because it tied up all loose ends and was set up throughout the book.
